Hi guys. It's been a while since I've written, and I miss writing! I’ve been pretty stressed. Despite Masters of Mutanite feeling good at this point and gaining positive responses from playtesters, the project has been really challenging.
So, an update! In October, I started working at Hasbro! I’m a Senior Play Designer creating “phygital” toys (physical/digital).
We've been heads down on our upcoming game Super Powers (working title), and super excited about it! In the mean time, Apotheca became an IndieCade 2016 Selection!
Since the last update, I've been in contact with the manufacturer regarding some small fixes to the Apotheca hard copy. We received a new hard copy, then gave them another round of feedback (among other small changes, potion corners are now rounded).
Some exciting updates today! We've been working with the manufacturer to get our final files synced up with their die line templates and other requirements.
We've exported all the completed backer surveys from CrowdOx, checked on a bunch of data, and sent off our production quantities to the manufacturer.
We received a special delivery from the manufacturer: the finalized gems! WOOHOO!! Below are the actual gems that will come in the game. They look and feel great! :D
Apotheca is moving along nicely. We are trying hard to deliver the finished files to the manufacturer by December 1st.
We've been busy! While the game is still a ways out, I'm very happy with our progress. I'm putting a variety of updates upfront, and then I'll move on to something more visually appealing :)
I haven't updated here in a while because I've been busy at Strategicon, Origins, and preparing for the Apotheca Kickstarter! The June 16th launch date will be here before I know it.
I decided to go with something a little different for this post. Let me know what you think!
We've been prepping our next game for Kickstarter. It took a while for us to arrive on a name, but now we know it will be Apotheca: The Secret Potion Society.
Over the past few weeks I went to two tabletop events: Sasquatch Board Games Festival in Seattle, WA, and Metatopia in Morristown, NJ. This is the second time I've gone to Sasquatch.
This is a guest post by Mark Major, graphic designer and co-developer of Knee Jerk. Knee Jerk is now on Kickstarter, and is nearly 200% funded. Take it away, Mark!
For the uninitiated, Knee Jerk is a game about making up endings to funny situations as fast as possible. It does not use answer cards – players shout out any answer they can think of.
Wow, we’ve been busy. Knee Jerk is making its way through the review world, with a majority of great results so far. My favorite quote to date is from Board Game Corner: “I think you have a hit on your hands here.” We’ve been prepping a lot of content for the Kickstarter page: the project video, reward tiers, shipping prices, stretch goals, press/testimonials/reviews, etc.
Knee Jerk, our party game launching on Kickstarter in September, finally has streamlined content. This means that players won’t be challenged by seemingly impossible situations or weird grammar. It’s easy to say that now, but it was a difficult task.
